Early brain alterations found after onset of MS

Researchers in London have identified early brain changes not detectable with conventional MRI in patients recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Presenting at MSVirtual2020, Dr Sara Collorone of University College London, UK, said a better understanding of microstructural and metabolic changes in the normal brain tissue of patients with early MS would provide valuable insights into the pathophysiology of the disease.

Dr Collorone and colleagues used two advanced MRI techniques to look for clinically relevant changes in the brains of patients with early MS and normal findings on conventional MRI.
