Nerve biopsy plays crucial role in decisions on diagnosis and therapy in peripheral neuropathy

New research at AOCN 2021 has highlighted the important contribution nerve biopsy can make in the management of peripheral neuropathy.

Nerve biopsy plays a crucial role in elucidating the etiological diagnosis of neuropathy related to conditions such as vasculitis, leprosy, amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, neurolymphomatosis, and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).

However, the diagnostic yield and influence of biopsy on the clinical management of peripheral neuropathy has not been well documented, particularly in south-east India.
