Study highlights racial disparities in dementia and PD

Among Medicare beneficiaries in the USA, Black patients are more likely to be diagnosed with neurodegenerative disease (NDD) than White patients and have worse outcomes, a new study finds. Researchers presented the data at the AAN 2022 annual meeting.

“A large body of literature suggests there are racial disparities in incidence and outcomes for NDD,” the researchers noted. “However, it is not clear what structural factors influence these disparities or how contemporary care patterns differ by race.”
